Students receive a Program Guide to support their in-class and home practice, and a vocabulary-building program for use both during and after the course. In class, students learn to apply skills and strategies to a variety of materials, including different types of nonfiction, textbooks, journal articles and literature. Materials are provided by the Institute of Reading Development, a leader in reading development curriculum for more than thirty years.
